COLLABORATIVE WORK WITH MIDIADUB, 2020.

Heartbits was an app that collected heartbeats and sent them to those the user loved. The user just covered the phone’s back camera with their index finger, relaxed, and thought about this person. The app collected the user’s heartbeat through the pulse on their finger and turned this data into sound (the user’s heartbeat), vibration (the phone vibrated in real time) and a 15-second video. At the end of this capture, the user could type a small message and send it to that person they really wanted to give a hug to and say: “I miss you, you are important to me”.

Nothing can replace a tight hug, but the union between technology, art and design has the power to shorten distances, connect us with each other and get us closer to those we love. During the quarantine period (COVID), Estudio Guto Requena and Midiadub joined in the creation of Heartbits to help us feel a little less lonely.
